January in books….

I got through six books this month, helped mostly by the fact I had an extra week off at the beginning of the year.

I’d highly recommend it, I took walks, read, ate breakfast out, pottered around at home and did feel refreshed when I finally made it back to work.

Going back to work however, massively slowed my reading down, I just had to settle for grabbing ten minutes here and there wherever possible.

Here’s what I did get through though….

The Next person you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom

Heart-warming, life affirming, comforting.

No act done for someone else is ever wasted

The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams

Book. Of. The. Month!!!!

It’s beautiful, sums up the power of reading and how stories connect us. I’ve always been a fan of books about books, this one was wonderful

Under the skin by Michel Faber

Creepy, intense, wonderfully weird and gripping.

I have never read anything quite like this before, I loved how uncomfortable it made me feel.

The Stranger in the Lifeboat by Mitch Albom

Thought provoking tale about self-forgiveness. Kept me questioning and made me think

Did they steal a million yet? By James Crookes

A sequel to a book I read last year. Loses none of the charm and humour of the first, great characters and a load of nostalgia

Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason

Unflinching, honest story about one woman’s long battle with her mental health, funny and devastating.

Came to it late, it’s been on my TBR for ages full review to follow as soon as I get my arse in gear….

I’d love to hear if you’ve read any of these or if any take your fancy…

I love the sound of The Next Person You Meet in Heaven, The Reading List, and The Stranger in the Lifeboat. Thank you for these wonderful recommendations!
